Film in Minoriti: Zajeti v izviru – Slovenski otroci Lebensborna
In 1942, around thirty "racially appropriate" Slovenian children were enrolled in the infamous Nazi Lebensborn programme, designed by Heinrich Himmler to spread the Aryan race. Initially conceived as a network of maternity homes and maternity hospitals where racially pure illegitimate children could be born, the programme later began to include stolen babies who had been abducted by the occupying army on the orders of the mastermind in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Ukraine and Lower Styria, Slovenia. Most of these children were given up for adoption to German couples who, at least in appearance, were loyal to the Nazi regime.
Maja Weiss's documentary tells the stories of four stolen children, the last surviving Slovenian victims of the Nazi Lebensborn racial programme.
The protagonists in[Zajeti v izviru], regardless of their nationality, convey the message that forgiveness, compromise, acceptance of diversity, solidarity and love are important for maintaining peace in a world that is becoming less and less peaceful.
