Our tour begins at the Infopoint in the north, where you'll learn about the general history and current offerings of the area. Over the centuries, this space has hosted a fascinating array of functions: originally a church (Minorite order), then a military site, and now a hub for theater and culture. Uncover hidden stories and enjoy a refreshing juice under the oldest oak tree.
We'll explore the Maribor Puppetry Museum and delve into its 50-year history of professional puppetry in Maribor, followed by a visit to the Church, which, with its monumental minimalism, offers a range of interpretations.
Next, we'll visit the Great Hall and the Small Hall—the former located in the old monastery garden and the latter in the northeast part of the monastery. Experience the vibrant atmosphere of scenic, costume, and art workshops. We’ll also stroll along the remnants of the city wall between the Žički Dvor and the Minorite Monastery, reaching the Judgment Tower, known for its distinctive round shape and its role as a premier venue for diverse cultural events.
The tour concludes at the Auditorium, in the shade of the oldest oak tree in the old town center, a place simply known as “Under the Oak.” Here, we'll treat ourselves to refreshing natural juice made from raspberries, mint, and lemon balm, just as the monks who once inhabited and built this complex might have enjoyed.
