OPERA IN MINORITI

Ptuj will host the Masterclass for Opera Singers for the fourth consecutive year, led by the internationally acclaimed mentor Medea Iassonidi. The Greek-born artist, who studied in Kyiv, is most active in Russia, where she has built a remarkable career. The study week takes place within the Minorite Monastery in Ptuj and is supported by the local Private Music School, which generously provides its facilities each year.
The concert will be the culmination of an intensive week of training by a diverse group of international opera singers. They will take us on a journey through the world of opera, as well as other genres with a more summery flair. Today’s young opera singers are full of passion and energy—far from the stoic icons of decades past. When artists from such different backgrounds come together, their collective energy is amplified and beautifully intertwined. We’re sure they’ll surprise us with a few spontaneous moments as well.
Nowadays, opera is much more than just top-tier singing. We hope that the lively spirit of the performers will ignite an appreciation for classical music among younger audiences too. A special evening awaits us at Minoriti Maribor, in the former church setting known for its excellent acoustics and refreshing coolness on a summer night.
