Literary Station: MELITA FORSTNERIČ HAJNŠEK - TAKA NISEM BILA NIKOLI

In her fiction debut, journalist and columnist Melita Forstnerič Hajnšek bravely describes the story of her own struggle with illness. Although centred around a time marked by the onset, diagnosis and treatment of the disease, she offers insights into her own rich life, sketches the people who have shaped it and offers many of the book references that have helped to shape it.

A serious illness first gave me time and encouraged me to collect and edit my scribbles from years ago, which I had to get out while working as a journalist. The characters of my life were brewing. /.../ The key is the true story of my illness, all about the path of healing, self-observation, vivisection of everything that came my way... But maybe someone with my fate can also be guided, comforted and encouraged.
