Literary stop: ALEŠ ŠTEGER - WRITTEN IN PLACE
The book of essays Written in Place, published by Beletrina, completes the project of the same name, which was twelve years in the making and could be followed in the Saturday supplement of the Večer newspaper.
In 2012, Aleš Šteger conceived the ambitious and subtle project Written in Place, which was born out of a desire to overcome fears by "putting oneself, and thus one's language, in a situation where there is simply no way out but to react. In the case of the writer, this reaction is writing itself, it is literature itself". Šteger has travelled the world, and each time he has accomplished the same task: to write and photograph in twelve hours, without preparation and without subsequent corrections. The texts - we could also call them "poetopises" - take us to the next poetically felt and disturbed places: Ljubljana (Slovenia), Minamisōma (Japan), Mexico City (Mexico), Belgrade (Serbia), Kochi (India), Solovki (Russia), Shanghai (China), Bautzen/Budyshin (Germany), Santiago de Compostela (Spain), the Strait of Magellan (Chile), Hargeisa (Somaliland) and White Sands (USA).
The discussion will be moderated by Dr Janja Vollmaier Lubej.
