Petra Onderuf Quartet
Petra, a Slovak violinist and composer, has been captivating audiences worldwide for years with the international ensemble Wild Strings Trio. This time, she unveils her debut jazz album, An Odd Time of Day.
The album takes listeners on a journey through sonic landscapes inspired by the most unusual moments in life—those "odd times of day" when the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary. With bold improvisation, unconventional rhythms, and profound melodies, Petra invites you into a world of jazz that challenges traditions and ventures into the unknown.
The compositions were shaped over recent years as a response to the artist’s diverse life experiences, emotions, and personal reflections. By reliving these moments through music, the listener is drawn into a shared experience, expressed through lyrical ECM jazz, ethno-jazz fusion, Eastern European melodic streams, and the colorful complexity of odd rythems. With her music, Petra transcends the boundaries of classical, world, and jazz music, creating a truly unique and immersive musical experience.
