Zapik Theatre
The exhibition is open during events at the Maribor Puppet Theatre.
Since its inception, the Zapik theater has been questioning the boundary forms of puppet language. It focuses more on the visual, while at the same time establishing the boundless freedom of a newly created world, a newly inhabited life, through which it communicates original stories, sets its own rules, which it breaks without hesitation.
Zapik is the smallest Slovenian puppet theater. It expresses sophisticated minimalism through the chamber character and the use of interactivity, while the material draws from a wide field of ethnological research, including music and pedagogy and therapeutic approaches. The founders of the theater, Jelena Sitar Cvetko and Igor Cvetko, give form and content to the combination of theoretical knowledge, and in an aesthetic sense, author's originality and refined minimalism. The creative tandem brings documentary elements into their works, and in their expression they abolish the dividing line - the ramp between the audience and the performer, and place great emphasis on social factors and socializing with young viewers, which is an additional component to their performances, which in this context must be understood as broadly based events.
