Duration: 1 H 40 MIN
Film Evening with Award-Winning Filmmakers from Maribor

This year, we have prepared a special Maribor film evening to celebrate the remarkable achievements and numerous awards of Maribor filmmakers in recent months. With the Maribor premiere of Skin on Skin, we will honor actor Jurij Drevenšek, who received the Glazerjeva listina Mestne občine Maribor and the nagrada Veliki plan Društva slovenskih avdiovizualnih igralcev for his outstanding acting achievements in recent years. The screening of Obzornik 242 – Sunčane pruge will pay tribute to the current Prešernov sklad awardee Nika Autor. At the Slovenian premiere of his master’s film Stvari, ki sem ti jih želel povedati, we will also host Mitja Mlakar, a recent graduate in film directing from the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Arts.

The evening is organized in cooperation with the konzorcij Film in Maribor.

Youth work actions were an integral part of socialist Yugoslavia. Thousands of young volunteers contributed to the country’s development and major infrastructure projects such as highways, railways, bridges, tunnels, factories, housing, schools, hospitals, and parks. Among these was the Šamac–Sarajevo railway, built in 1947 in just seven months. Young people from Yugoslavia were joined by brigadiers from Italy, the UK, Greece, France, Denmark, Sweden, Palestine, and more. During the wars of the 1990s, the railway was damaged, split by the Dayton Agreement, and its vital parts privatized. The last Šamac–Sarajevo train ran in 2011. Today, the tracks are often used by people journeying toward a promised future.
