Film in Minoriti: Monster

When the mother realises that the teacher is responsible for her son's worrying behaviour, she rushes to the school and demands an explanation. But it is only when the story is played out from all three perspectives - mother, teacher and child - that the truth gradually emerges.

The story describes an incident /.../ at a small school in the interior of Japan and the tiny sparks that cause a big rift among the local population. /.../ I joined the development of the script in 2019 /.../. This was before the world was turned upside down by the covida pandemic, so I was struck by how our story mirrors the divisions between people, countries and ethnic groups that we see around the world today.
